Immunomics lab has received two awards for Best Oral Presentation at the national congresses of the Italian Society for Organ-on-Chip (SIOoC) and the Italian Society for Translational Research and Healthcare Professions (S.I.R.T.E.P.S.).
The study focuses on the development of an autologous synovium-on-chip model, a three-dimensional system that uses cells obtained from patients with rheumatoid arthritis to reproduce key features of synovial tissue in the laboratory and investigate its response to pharmacological treatments. The research is part of the European FLAMIN-GO project, coordinated by UPO, which aims to advance organ-on-chip technologies and bring them closer to personalized medicine.
Thuy Duong Nguyen presented her work at the fifth S.I.R.T.E.P.S. national congress, held in L’Aquila from 8 to 10 October 2026, where she received the Best Oral Presentation award.During the conference Davide Raineri gave a flash talk on “Circulating Basophils Reveal a Novel Dimension of Immune Dysregulation in Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis”.
As the S.I.R.T.E.P.S. congress coincided with the SIOoC national congress in Rome, taking place on the same dates, she was unable to attend both events. At the SIOoC congress, the research was presented by Professor Annalisa Chiocchetti, Professor of Immunology at UPO’s Department of Health Sciences and Head of the Immunomics Lab at the University’s Center for Autoimmune and Allergic Diseases (CAAD). The study also received the award for Best Oral Presentation at this meeting.
